Although relatively new to the San Diego blues scene since moving from Arizona in 2010, Mike has been playing for almost 50 years. Known more for his work on his beloved 63 Fender Precision bass, in recent years he has branched out to upright, playing a ‘rescued’ 61 Kay. Most of his time is spent in the Blues world, although his taste and abilities are highly eclectic. Mike lived in the Phoenix area most of his life, where he had the opportunity to hear and play with many of the great players in that community, and is Lifetime Mojo Member of the Phoenix Blues Society, an organization he helped develop in the 1990′s.
Bruce has played blues and all styles of American roots music in every corner of the U.S. and Europe for the last 45 years. He cut his teeth playing rock, soul and blues in the greater New York area where Bruce took lessons from Bernard Purdie, shared the stage with Bruce Springsteen at the famed Stone Pony in Asbury Park, was featured at the Clearwater Festival, and toured the country with Mountain drummer Corky Laing. Moving to Nashville, Bruce drummed for The Prisoners of Love, Homesick James, and White Wolf and opened consecutive Vanderbilt Spring Blues Festivalss featuring Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Koko Taylor and Paul Butterfield. With Freddy and the Screamers, he toured Europe and was featured at the Amsterdam Blues Festival and the Belgium Blues Festival. Bruce produced the Americana album, “Oh, What a Time!” featuring, among others, Johnny Shines, Furry Lewis, Homesick James, Othar Turner and the Rising Star Fife and Drum Band. Since moving to California, Bruce has played with a long list of San Diego’s best blues bands, including Candye Kane, Billy Watson, Billy Thompson, Bill McGee, The Jukestompers, Michele Lundeen and Chris James/Patrick Rynn.
